How Businesses Can Adapt to the Changes and Thrive During the Pandemic
##### Our New Normal
If there's anything people have learned about the way we work due to the pandemic, it’s that you need to adapt and be very flexible to survive. In order to maintain safety measures, the world saw a profound transition to digitally remote working and learning conditions. With this shift to a more interconnected digital world, society quickly adapted to the “new normal” in order to stay in touch and stay in businesses.
In fact, Zoom, the video conferencing company, has zoomed its way to the top amid the pandemic as millions are forced to stay at home to stop the spread of the virus. Zoom revealed that they surpassed [300 million Zoom users](https://www.theverge.com/2020/4/23/21232401/zoom-300-million-users-growth-coronavirus-pandemic-security-privacy-concerns-response), which was a 50% increase from 200 million reported earlier in April. This was a huge jump from 10 million users back in December before global lockdowns were set in place. Zoom is expecting [$1.8bn in sales](https://www.bbc.com/news/business-52884782) this year, which was roughly double what they predicted in March.
##### Digital Marketing as a Long-Term Solution
Lucky for us, through the use of modern technology and data, we are still able to work with a variety of digital channels that help maintain connectivity and increase productivity.
Local businesses and B2B companies typically depend on foot traffic and word-of-mouth referrals to network and increase their customer base. This is a great opportunity for these businesses to open new channels over the web or social media platforms to make those introductions and build relationships. Just because social distancing has refrained physical presence with customers, doesn’t mean you can’t connect with them online.
Because we don’t know if this is a long term change, it is important to embrace this digital transformation instead of being frightened by it. If the businesses' approach to shifting to digital marketing is strategic, it could lead to long-term value when the world goes back to normal and will make companies better prepared for future circumstances.
##### How Majestic Meats Changed Their Business Model and Grew 20% of their Retail Business by Adopting Digital Marketing Strategies
One of our clients, Majestic Meats, is a great success story of how even in times of hardship, resilience and adaptability can help you thrive even during a pandemic.
Majestic Meats was originally a B2B company that sold premium meats to restaurant clients, but their business was wiped out as a result of the pandemic. They wanted to quickly adapt to a direct to consumer model but had no experience with digital marketing.
They wanted a platform that was easy-to-use and could help them connect with a new customer base. That’s where we came in. Within days of their first campaign, “Their phones wouldn’t stop ringing with new customers”.
Though the unfortunate aftermath cleaned out their business, they took matters into their hands and transformed their business from a B2B to B2C food distributor and achieved over 1,000 new Facebook followers and saw a 20% increase in sales.
##### Survival Of The Fittest
Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection is a simple but powerful concept that is relevant to our situation now: those individuals that best adapt to their environment are more likely to survive and reproduce.
The key to resilience during these times is adaptability. Thus, businesses are becoming more reliant on digital marketing strategies to make it through these unpredictable times, which will definitely pave the way for the future.
